Award Rules

On 21 April 1976, the first German Antarctic station was put into operation in the Schirmacher Oasis. In memory of the achievements of the researchers, the ‘50 Years of German Antarctic Research’ diploma is being issued.

The campaign will start at the same time as the ‘23rd Antarctic Activity Week’ (AAW2026) on 16 February 2026. During the first week, the call signs DA0ANT, DM50ANT and DP50ANT will also count towards the AAW2025 awards.

The following call signs count towards the ‘50 Years of German Antarctic Research’ award:

  DA0ANT aktiv from 16.2. to 30.4.2026
  DM50ANT aktiv from 16.2. to 30.4.2026
  DP50ANT aktiv from 16.2. to 30.4.2026
  DM50GFS aktiv from 1.4. to 30.4.2026
  DP200GVN aktiv from 1.4. to 30.4.2026

The award ‘50 Years of German Antarctic Research’ is awarded in three stages:

Stations from Germany require:
   Einfach: 20 points are required and 2 different special event stations
   Schwierig: 40 points are required and 3 different special event stations
   Perfekt: 60 points are required and 4 different special event stations
Stations from Europe require:
   Einfach: 15 points are required and 2 different special event stations
   Schwierig: 30 points are required and 3 different special event stations
   Perfekt: 45 points are required and 4 different special event stations
Stations outside Europe require:
   Einfach: 10 points are required and 2 different special event stations
   Schwierig: 20 points are required and 3 different special event stations
   Perfekt: 30 points are required and 4 different special event stations

Each of the 5 stations can be counted once per band, per mode (cw / phone / digital) and per month in the period from 16 February 2026 to 30 April 2026. QSOs in CW count for 5 points, in phone for 4 points and QSOs in a digital mode count for 3 points. To promote the modes RTTY and PSK, one additional point will be awarded for these two digital modes. The award is issued for CW, phone, digital and mixed modes.
