From October 1987 to February 1989, Uwe Mattern took part in the Antarctic expedition of the former GDR. In his diary, Uwe describes 16 months in the eternal ice as an engineer, technician and driver. Almost 1,500 pictures of the expedition provide a small insight into the daily routine.
